During my stay in UK, I have noticed one strange thing - Any source of stagnant water is treated like a wishing well and you can see more than a few coins at the bottom of any such water source. Wishing wells were still fine - but what surprised me even more was a wishing tree :)
I had gone to Yorkshire Dales on Saturday and saw this amazing tree which was plundered with coins all over. The first sight was a bit horrendous and I couldnt stop wondering how painful it would be for the tree with all the coins driven into its trunk. I still am not sure of what the exact story is behind the tree and the coins, but Wikipedia has some information about Wishing Trees in general.
Maybe some of you could enlighten me more.
Hope everyone had a great Easter.
