photoblog image Wall Painting

Wall Painting

Another one from my Neemrana collection - amazing painting on the wall, they light a lamp in the rectangular box in the evenings, and its an awesome sight. Couldn't get the angle right on this shot - there was no way I could get up to that height. The painting dates back to the early 17th century; it depicts a Rajput warrior trying his skills in riding. It is a true sign of the glorious and colourful history that India has.

Beautiful colours.

What are they doing to protect murals such as this one? It seems a pity that it's fading.
Thomas Mathew: Thanx Ellie - I know its a pity that the heritage is not being very well taken care of. Its basically due to the negligence over the years. But things are changing - efforts have begun to preserve such works. The government as well as the people at large have recognized the importance of preserving our heritage. Hope these will remain for our future generations to see smile
