photoblog image The Victoria Memorial

The Victoria Memorial

Though I wanted to click this from the front, the number of people moving around on the front and the lack of a zoom lens prevented me from taking 3 similar looking bracketed shots. This was the only angle from where I could take 3 shots with no movement at all in the frame. After I processed this, I liked the way how the colour in the frame changes from bright golden at the top to a little bit of sunlight yellow in the middle and marble white towards the bottom. The dark clouds and all the wings remind me of apocalyptic graphics :)

I don't know what it looks like from the front, Thomas, but this aspect looks more than acceptable to me.
Thomas Mathew: Thanks Ray. I'm glad you liked it.
High drama and all your efforts well rewarded. (:o)
Thomas Mathew: Thanks Rosalyn smile

Totally wonderful, Thomas. Who would have known it wasn't the front? (Or who cares?!)
Thomas Mathew: Thank you for stopping by Ginnie.
A very 3D image, nice one.
Thomas Mathew: Thank you John.

This is a fabulous memorial. It was reguilded a few years ago and look quite garish them but its now looking more weathered. The sky suits the colour of the stone really well and the gold makes it look like it was colour-popped.
Thomas Mathew: Thank you Alan.

You are right about the colours, Thomas. This is such a sharp image, and you must be delighted with it
Thomas Mathew: I am Lisl, thanks for stopping by.
Truly a beautiful memorial ! And I agree with you on the lighting - it's gorgeous!
